Alongside his executive role, Ian completed a doctoral research programme examining how market-leading firms build strategy that holds under real operating conditions. His research analysed patterns across firms that sustain advantage over long periods, leading to the development of Thematic Strategy.
Ian’s work sits at the intersection of strategy, execution, and external change. He helps leaders move beyond ambition-led planning and build strategies anchored to the forces shaping their markets.
